Development Board

During the long period of the reform of higher education in Serbia, professional and applied education was underestimated and its importance was not adequately defined nor emphasized. However, the new Law on Higher Education was designed based on standards of the EU and it finally recognizes the importance of applied professional studies by according them their rightful place in education system and most importantly introduces master professional courses.

Novi Sad School of Business is an accredited state higher education institution which has managed to establish itself as one of the leading state institutions in the field of applied business, economics and informatics. Thousands of enrolled students and graduates and the success they have achieved in their careers upon completion of the studies are a reliable indicator that the job we are doing has been well done. Still, well is not enough. We believe we should provide top-notch education to those who trusted us, students above all, who have recognized us as a partner that can help them realize their full potential and achieve their professional goals. Furthermore, we owe it to our business environment which defines the purpose of our existence. That is the responsibility we are aware of and which we readily and gladly accept. That is the reason why we see the time which is ahead of us as a time of transformation.

Seeking to develop further, we are firmly resolved and dedicated to the goal of aligning the education we provide with the real needs of the economy. Furthermore, we believe that the development of our institution should be founded on essential principles of applied and professional studies and based on best practices of similar educational institution in the world. We possess adequate material and human resources which will help us achieve that goal. Since quality applied education demands close cooperation with all the key stakeholders, in addition to numerous independent activities which have been launched in order to improve the cooperation, we have founded a special advisory body. The Development Committee encompasses all the key stakeholders: representatives from the world of trade and business, science and education and relevant expert organizations. In other words, in order to adequately develop the school and contribute to the economy and society by creating quality applied business studies we have started to systemically improve and implement our long-term strategy of development, the strategy which takes into account the needs of all those who are the reason of the existence of our institution.

Since the Committee represents one of the key mechanisms for implementation of the strategy its members are renowned representatives of all the relevant stakeholders. Since we are a business school and our business environment defines the purpose of our existence, professional organizations and companies from our business environment as our partners are crucial to achieving this important and valuable goal. In this venture we perceive the representatives from companies as partners who will contribute to the development of relevant and contemporary study programmes via suggestions, instruction and various other activities. The outcome of such study programmes should be easily employable graduates with practical knowledge, skills and competencies which will meet the needs of the economy and relevant professions. The committee members are expected to employ the expertise and experience they have to create balance between the current needs of the market for a specific skill set and fundamental knowledge students must acquire. By incorporating these two aspects in our study programme we will ensure that our graduates are flexible, analytical, fast-learning professionals who are able to cope with the challenges of the rapidly changing work environment. Furthermore, students’ mind-set will be to keep up-to-date with the constant technological, economic and social changes and see them not as obstacles but as opportunities for creating an added value. Only with that in mind will we be able to educate professionals who will be able to deal with challenges that exist in local or international business environment.
