The objective of the course is to broaden the existing knowledge of general English language and develop all language skills and strategies necessary for successful oral and written communication in English in a business environment.
Upon completion of the study program, the students will:be able to properly use the available language resources necessary for presenting themselves, their future business environment, their interests; have the basic linguistic, sociolinguistic and cultural knowledge necessary for successful business contact in situations such meetings, negotiations and socializing outside the business environment; understand the gist of authentic business texts taken from newspapers and the Internet; be able to write a short email, business letter and CV; possesses knowledge of strategies for effective communication; use dictionaries in printed and electronic form.
Theoretical training
Topics: Types of jobs in companies, problems at work, travel, buying and selling of products, starting entrepreneurship, secret of a sucessful business, work behavior, in the restaurant; set phrases for speech acts that occur through contact (by telephone), getting to know each other, meeting outside the workplace, booking travel, job interviews, resolving problems at work, meetings.
Grammar: present and past simple and continuous forms, modal verbs, interrogative sentences, countable and uncountable nouns, comparison of adjectives, expressions of future actions.
Writing emails, business letters, short descriptions of products and services, minutes of the meeting, CVs.
Practical training
Case studies, simulation of speech situations.
