The objective of the course is help students: master the skill of making simple sentences and using common expressions necessary for daily communication in routine business situations; use simple grammatical structures consciously and precisely; expand basic business vocabulary and adopt basic professional terminology; improve the ability to use numerical expressions; improve students' ability to translate and compose short texts using dictionaries; to understand speakers who speak slowly relying on context cues; train students to use dictionaries; online and self-learning tools; expand knowledge about French culture, tourism and economics.
After successfully mastering the syllabus, students will be able to use simple sentences, expressions and general business terminology in a business context; to express their own views in a simple way; to participate in discussions; to use (minor errors are tolerated) the basic professional terminology in the fields of company organization, trade, tourism, IT, production; to compose a short business letter and a CV; to translate and presentwith the help of dictionaries simple professional texts from other field-related courses; to use dictionaries, textbooks and Internet and self-learningtools.
Theorethical training
Topics: French brands and companies, French and French-speaking cultures.
Language competences: Basic general lexicon and everyday phrases; General business terminology and terminology from the field of tourism, trade, finance and informatics; Knowledge in the following areas: present of regular and irregular verbs, future simple tense, perfect and present conditionals, articles, prepositions, adjectives, gender and number of nouns and adjectives, numbers, personal pronouns, structure of questions and question words, negation, comparison; pronunciation rules and writing; Raising awareness for perfect, past and future tenses, object and relative pronouns, conjunctions, adverbs.
Practical training
Communicative competences: Developing language skills (listening, writing, reading, speaking) through appropriate activities and simulation of situations; Topics: Presentation and introduction to other people in the business environment; making and answering a business call; scheduling business meetings and conferences; buying and selling; booking a hotel; basic dialogues at the bank; organizing business trips and business conferences; future plans; presenting companies, products and services; discussing business plans and activities; expressing prohibitions and obligations in a business context; job applications, job interview, employment.
Practice:Brief presentation of the key vocabulary students learn in other courses they attend during Bachelor studies (e.g. SWOT analysis, marketing mix, etc.).
