The objective of the course is to introduce students with basic sociological concepts and interactions that are perceived between the economic sphere and other segments of the social context.
Getting acquainted with the basic sociological concepts, students’ general education becomes wider which enables a comprehensive insight into the profession for which they are studying. Understanding of economic processes, their causes and consequences, the choice of the most relevant ways and means of overcoming these problems and improvement of existing activities.
The proposed subject will be elaborated in the following units of study: sociology tasks and functions of sociological knowledge, methods in sociology, relationship of sociology and sociological disciplines to other social sciences with special emphasis on the economy, the structure of social action (actors, needs, interests, objects and resources, values, norms, status, roles), society and culture (language and symbolic communication, myth, magic, religion, ideology, social rules - ethics, law, art), social groups (family, village, ethnic groups, profession ...), property and power-base of social inequality, different models of analysing the vertical structure of society (class-conflict, stratification, elitist model), social mobility, and the notion of the kinds of social institutions and organisations with a focus on economic institutions and organizations; social aspects of business ethics; social change, social development and social growth.
Through seminar papers and simulations of different situationsstudents will learn to understand and solve the problems, specific to socio-cultural context, they may face in their future workplace.

Lectures, individual and group seminars paper presentations. In the course of theoretical and practical training dialogues and simulations of real-life situations will be encouraged. During its realization different technological aids will be used: overhead projector, video projector, tape recorder, etc.
